Cutting it down to the wire..

Last week we received a few calls from Philadelphia regarding appointments. During one of the calls, the kidney transplant coordinator mentioned that the team wanted us up there from the 5th-13th of August, but that they were still working out contracts with our insurance company. I didn't think much of it, it seemed like we had plenty of time to get everything signed, plan, and prepare for a trip. Boy was I wrong.

Monday was the final day for me to order Parker's dialysis supplies to have them shipped from the warehouse to Philadelphia, and the contract with CHOP still wasn't signed. I called our insurance and the financial coordinator trying to get some answers and still nothing. When i told them the situation, they finally started to understand that I needed some sort of guidance as to how to handle the situation. After going back and forth several times, it was decided that we should go ahead and make arrangements for housing and have all of the supplies sent over. By the way, for a 25 lbs package it's $200 overnight. Craziness!

Well, it's Thursday, and we just got the phone call this morning that all of the paperwork is finally signed. Now we have to book flights, pack, and  book a rental car. We can't book flights until tomorrow, though. The social worker in Philadelphia is sending us some vouchers to help with the cost of flights, and we have to wait for those to get here.

On top of all of this, my best friend/cousin is getting married tomorrow night and I am honored to be her bridesmaid, so tonight is rehearsal dinner and tomorrow is a day of pampering with hair and make-up before she says "I do". Saturday will be a day of packing and finding out the gender of two of our good friends' baby!

Needless to say, with all of this going on, preparing my classroom and lessons for my sub, I'm pretty wiped out. Stretching myself too thin, but all of these people are well worth it!

We leave bright and early Sunday morning and our first appointment is Monday at 9 a.m. -Eastern time of course. I will keep you updated to the best of my ability.

As always, thank you all for the support and prayers through this journey!
